Advice on USB Tuners

Is a USB as good as a Pci Card Tuner?
What Problems can I Expect?

The quality is about the same for PCI and USB. With a portable aerial, the picture can be very choppy, like with all TV tuners. With a good quality roof-mounted aerial, the picture is perfect.

I'm using the Pinnacle PCTV DVB-T Flash Stick ( review link) which allows you to record directly to the 1gb USB stick or to your hard drive if you need more storage. As long as your computer supports USB 2 and you have DirectX 9.0 installed you should have no problems with this one.

No need to install any software. Just plug the aerial into the USB stick, plug the stick into a spare USB slot, and the TV player/recorder appears after a few seconds.
