Help Connecting Laptop to Projector

I have tried connecting 2 different laptops to a projector (not at the same time), Presario v5000 and Packard Bell Easynote K2W.

I used a vga-to-vga cable to do this. Both laptops have 'Intel 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset', 'Intel GMA Driver' and 'Plug in and Play Monitor'.

I followed this link ' http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/cs-004653.htm '

but during step 1, there is no 'TV' Device option but 'Monitor' (which i guess is the same?). I tried the option to change the device to 'Monitor' as opposed to 'Notebook', but the screen goes blank and nothing happens on the projector image (It still says searching).

I tried all the other options but still nothing happens. We have managed to do this in the past using the same projector and vga-vga but we didnt have to do anything as the projector found the laptop and projected the image straight away.

Please help, i hope i have provided enough information.

Thanks!
