computer makes weird noise, pls help!!!!

When I switch on the computer, it makes weird noise. What could be the cause of this problem? I checked to see if some thing was obstructing the fans but I found nothing. Could some one help me?

Open the case when the computer is off.

Turn on computer and listen carefully. You should be able to get an idea where the noise is coming from.

The fans usually start making the most noise first. Check if they're dirty and clean them carefully with alchohol -- make sure not to drip on anything else. (Case fan, heatsink fan, video card fan, power supply fan).

If it's the power supply fan, try and clean it -- do not take it apart unless you know what you're doing. You could get electrocuted.

Check the hard drive(s). If it's coming from the hard drive, it may be on it's way out. Download a hard drive utility from the hard drive manufacturer to make sure.
