Problem with USB ports.
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this particular issue, but here goes. Well normally ive never had an issue with my USB ports. always worked fine in the two years ive owned my computer. Yesterday i pop in my centon prostick flash drive and as soon as its in the port my computer freezes then quickly flashes a blue screen for about a second then restarts my computer. Now at first i didnt think MUCH of it, because i have another flash drive that always restarted my computer but never gave me a blue screen. so knowing that, i simply let it reboot, but it kept looping, and then i figured the flash drive to be corrupted though ive only used it a hand full of times.
that brings me to now. having to print a document, i plug in the usb printer cord and it does the same exact thing. no matter which port i plug it in to. same blue screen, and reboots as well as loops. im assuming my usb ports are just bad though im not sure what could have caused this. it gave me no real signs except that ONE flash drive i had that always froze my computer. other than that every other usb device worked just fine. any clue as to what could be the issue? |

Re: Problem with USB ports.
Hi Leo, welcome to TSF
To see the 'blue screen of death' (BSOD) without the computer restarting, go to Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Startup & Recovery Settings button > System Failure and remove the checkmark from 'Automatically restart'. The full BSOD message and Stop error code will help pinpoint the cause of the problem.
