Belkin firewire card F5U508 rev2.1
Installed Belkin firewire card F5U508, a usb/ieee1394 combo card, into a new NEC computer and system will not shut down properly. Computer loads eveything ok and all works fine but when shutting down, windows (vista )closes, screen goes blank(so far so good) then machine instantly reboots back into vista. I remove the card all works normal. System only shuts off if A. I hold the pwr button for 5-6 secs or B. I pull the plug(no brainer there). I need a firewire for videos. Any ideas??? Very annoying...

Re: Belkin firewire card F5U508 rev2.1
Houndog777
I looked into the BIOS,system does not have onboard 1394 control so there was nothing to disable. It has Gigabyte ga-tg33m motherboard with G33 chipset. Since this firewire card also has usb ports as well could they be the problem?? this is nagging the crap outta me... Thanks for response ToolinU |

Re: Belkin firewire card F5U508 rev2.1
Hi, clean out the PCI slot you are using with some compressed air or similar.
Look in Device Manager for any alerts. Are you sure that's the correct name of your motherboard? http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/...75#Intel%20G33 |

Re: Belkin firewire card F5U508 rev2.1
Hey houndog777.
Thats whats written on the motherboard (ga-tg33mh). I couldn't find much on it either.I've emailed gigabyte to find info on board. It doesn't have onboard 1394. This board has 2 pci slots. I have a d-link wireless network card for my modem which works fine so I swapped cards and still have the same problem using the other slot. Device manager shows no conflicts or problems. Thanks ToolinU |

Re: Belkin firewire card F5U508 rev2.1
Hi, we really need to know the name of your board.
Your card may be a different PCI standard to your slots. But that should not cause system instability. It sounds more like the card is not seated properly and/or the slots are full of dust. |
