New hardware, HP Proliant ML350 and HP DAT (internal) tape drive. Using the SCSI cable that came with the tape drive, I've connected the device to the onboard Ultra320 controller. The problem is when the controller is looking for the device, it comes up empty and doesn't go any further. I've verified the controller is working because it saw the hard drives, and I've switched the cables and both work off the controller when connected to the hard disks, but neither works when connected to the tape drive. So, it's the tape drive right? This I'm basically 100% sure of, but I'm wondering if there's something on the drive that I've overlooked? The only things you can change are the SCSI id jumpers, the Term PWR jumper (HP says this is the termination and not to change this), and that's it! Anyone ever run into a similar problem where the controller just see the device? Oh yeah, one other piece to the puzzle is the HD68 -> 50 pin connector/converter. The tape drive is 50 pin and the cable is HD68 pin, and the converter came with the drive so you'd think it's Ok to use.
