Computer can not start up after using "sleep" button on keyboard
I normally use "Sleep" button on keyboard to make the computer to standby mode. Sometimes, after "sleeping", the computer cannot be reactived when I move the mouse or press any key on the keyboard. At that time, I power off the computer first then power on it, the computer can reboot and run as normal. But yesterday I repeat the same steps, the computer make no response.
When I power on the computer, i only see the monitor display the video RAM size then stop without any beeping. the computer light is on and the fan is working. But the floppy disk and HD light is off. For your ref, my OS is windows 2000 advance server. No network connect. I supect this is only the hardware problem that caused by CPU or motherboard. Can anybody give me some tips to solve the problem? Thanks |

Hi, and welcome to TSF. You certainly would seem to have a hardware issue at this point. I would try to boot from a floppy, if unable to make a floppy boot, then I would try resetting the Bios using the "clear/normal' jumper on the motherboard, and try again. If still no, then remove the ram(s) and try to get it to post some error beeps. It may also be helpful to unplug all hardware from the M.B. in the process to get it to beep on post. If you can get post beeps, it's not to be considered dead. If you can get such signs of life, then you can start putting hardware back into place until you find the offending component.
