New RAM = Problem
Hi i Have a P4 3.0 DDR SKT478 M45P8- MLF Motherboard and i have 2 x 256 PC2700 Aries stick of memory already in it. I have bought 1 x 512 PC3200 crucial memory to add to my computer but my comp wont show the extra memory when it is booted up.
I have put the 512 PC3200 into slot 1 and the 256's in to slot 3 and 4, they are all fitted correctly, but the extra memory isnt showing up when the comp is booted. The motherboard supports dual channeling so i need help with this problem plz as i would like to have a gig of memory working thanks. |

First, check to see if the 512 stick works. Try starting the computer with just it in slot 1. If that works, try playing around with where you put the ram. Try just the 512 stick in slot 1, just the 2 256s in slot 1 and 3, etc. I'd guess that having the 256s in slots 1 and 3, and the 512 in slot 2 would work, but I'm not sure.

Yes i have tryed the 512 by its self and it does work, i have also tryed several different patterns of putting them memory in e.g 512 in slot 1 and 256's in slot 3 + 4, 512 in slot 2 and 256's in slot 3 and 4, 512 in slot 3 and 256's in 1 + 2 but no luck. Ill try that one you told me but im not gettin my hopes up.
