Processor fans?
My processor is constantly overheating, (above 45C from start up!) and causing my computer to restart. So i presume the processor fan must need replacing as the motherboard temperature is fine and the same happened with another processor, however in bios the fan is said to be rotating at jus under 2600rpm which seems fine. Should i buy a new fan or a heatsink and base unit as well? Since a new fans are usually 2600rpm anyway will it help? Any help appreciated?

what processor are you using ? id say get a new one or you could increase the airflow in your computer by adding some case fans. my amd 3000+ is always around 40*C so im not worrying about it. you gota check whats your max processor heat otherwise you might just burn it soo watch out. but check online for some other fans thers some really nice ones and big ones and if your getting to the issua "my cmputer is too noisy" get a big fan like insanly big and run it at a low speed it will do the samething.

most CPU fans i have ever seen run at 5600 in 12v mode, and 3800 in 9v mode.
you might want to look your fan up online, and compare the speed they list for it.

This depends on what type of processor you are using. Prescott CPU tend to run hot (40-45c idle, 60-65c under load). You also might check to see if the heatsink is seated properly on the cpu and make sure you do not use excessive amounts of thermal paste.
