Dell 380 -- newly set up/ DVD not working
I just recieved a new Dell computer from a company I will begin working for on monday, after setting it up in my home office I'm finding the (dvd drive) device is not recognized. The drive doesn't open. Any ideas? I hate to have problems so quickly!

Re: Dell 380 -- newly set up/ DVD not working
Hi, welcome to TSF
If the DVD tray doesn't open, it's either faulty or not receiving power from the computer. Switch off and unplug the power cable, then remove the side panel from the case and make sure the cable from the PSU is firmly attached to the back of the DVD drive.

Re: Dell 380 -- newly set up/ DVD not working
does the green light blink? My mom's cd drive would blink and that was it...the power plug wasn't making full contact.
is the 380 a slimline that opens up like a book?

Re: Dell 380 -- newly set up/ DVD not working
I managed to get the power part to work-- the connection is ok now. Thank you very much for the help. The lock was not really lock.
![]() Now I have software issue. I need to use two monitors (I'm a spoiled graphic designer). I am trying to update the monitor driver. LCD 2009W (dell monitor) but, when I click update driver-- it doesn't recognize the drivers supplied by dell. Also, the video card driver-- doesn not support two monitors so it cannot update it either. I have a Quadro FX3450/40000 video card. |
