SB live 24bit driver install freezing xp

hey
ok today i got my M2N32-sli mobo back from ebuyer after i had to RMA it;/
I have just installed XP and the mobo and graphics drivers.
When i tried to install my sound card drivers for my soundblaster live 24bit, everytime it came to the "updating system drivers" message, it would be ok for about 5 secs them xp would freeze, so i tried 3 different driver versions and they all did the same freeze.
I then took the card out, placed it back in and tried again, same freeze.
I then thought i would move it down 1 PCI slot, when to install and it worked

, so i thought i would reinstall them again just to test, and agian they installed fine.

why would my pc be freezing when i am trying to install this sound card in the closest pci slot to the graphics card? im sure thats the slot i used before i RMA the mobo (rma because after a bios update it would not post)

ok it must not have been placed in right, after it installed fine in pci slot 2, i unistalled it and tried slot 1 again, this time it installed, not with no sound, so installed a good few times again and still no sound, so back to slot 2 and all works fine.
any ideas anyone on why this is happening?
