My System

Confused Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 2000 Keyboard bad for gaming?

I have had my wireless keyboard and mouse since Christmas, and love the shape, and the looks. Although, its one downside, which can get down right annoying, is that it obviosuly does not hold a steady signal. Whilst playing games where you move using w,a,s and d, I cannot continue moving without it cutting out and me stopping. And suggestions on how to get a better signal? (I have the keyboard about 20cm away from the receiver, and there is nothing obstucting it) Or, would there be a program out there to fix this?

System specs: (Dunno if they'll help or not)
Windows Vista Ultimate Sp1
2GB Ram
Dual Core processor 4.8GHz total
NVIDIA Geforce 8500 video card
