Logitech Quickcam and Yahoo issues
Motherboard: ASUS M2N-SLI
Processor: AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core 3.2 Ghz Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT 2 gig RAM I have a fairly old (2001-ish) Logitech Quickcam Zoom. Worked perfectly with Yahoo right out of the box. The specs above are from a system I just built a month or so ago. Last week I tried to use my webcam on Yahoo with no luck. Yahoo does not even recognize that I have a cam hooked up (i.e. the "camera source" button in the webcam preferences is greyed out). This was the first time I attempted to use my cam with the new system, both Yahoo and the Quickcam software are updated to their latest release versions. The camera functions with its own software, so the camera itself is not malfunctioning. No firewall or Antivirus issues since I use the same software that I used previously, and the camera had no trouble then. Logitech's oh so wonderful tech support has given me the idea that my video card may be the culprit. VIDCAP 32 was able to detect the camera fine. However, I found a post here on techsupportforum from Joshik only a few days old, whose problem sounds similar to mine. I don't have contacts on any other service so testing the cam with other programs is not really an option. http://www.techsupportforum.com/hard...messenger.html Before I try the registry hack proposed in that thread, I was hoping I could get some second opinions. Any help you folks could provide is greatly appreciated. |

Re: Logitech Quickcam and Yahoo issues
i think you might have to go with the registry hack. i can't think of any other possible ways. since VFW is not coming up by default, i don't think that there's any other way to work with it.

Re: Logitech Quickcam and Yahoo issues
Tried the registry hack both in the pager and webcam folders...nothing. Tried it with MSN and MSN recognizes that I have a camera installed and I'm able to send view invitations. So then the issue seems to lie with Yahoo...am I to the point where I should just invest in a new cam since I use Yahoo pretty much exclusively?

Re: Logitech Quickcam and Yahoo issues
you can try one last thing. uninstall the webcam from the device manager & uninstall yahoo messenger.
then restart your computer. download the webcam drivers and software {latest version from the website}. then download and install YM again and then see if it detects it. other than that, i don't have any other suggestions rather than to get a new one. i am sure people here have other ideas. maybe they can come up with something different. [i just wanted to make sure that there isnt a software or driver conflict somewhere on your pc.]
