Ultra Media Dashboard 2 - Power Failure

Hi, everyone. I'm new to PC building and I just tackled my first one the other night, which includes:
M3N-HT Asus motherboard with mempipe
4gb of OCZ SLI-Ready RAM
AMD Phenom 9550 Quad-core processor
500gb harddrive, optical 20x dvd drive, and a geforce 9800 GTX that I have inserted but due to frustration with the item, I have it unpowered.

I started the computer with an Ultra media dashboard, which has 4 usb, 1 i394, 2 sata, headphone/mic/pdif, and some camera flash card drives. Now, I plugged the 2 usb cords to the corrosponding ports inside the computer, and plugged the power in correctly, but when I stick a usb flashdrive in it it throws a bubble on my xp screen saying that it has insufficient power.

This is odd because I use a 750w power supply, and I thought that it'd be enough to power it.

If anyone's had a similar problem and knows the solution, please let me know. Thank you!

Re: Ultra Media Dashboard 2 - Power Failure

Hi,
What is the make & model of your Power Supply?
All 750W PSU's are not the same, that's why some cost 50 bucks and some cost 200.
Have a look here.......

Re: Ultra Media Dashboard 2 - Power Failure

Go to Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager. Click the [+] next to USB Controllers, then right-click 'USB Root Hub' and select Properties. Click the Power tab. It should say "The hub is self-powered.... Total power available: 500mA per port". Then click the Power Management tab and make sure there's not a checkmark for 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'.

Are there any red or yellow flags in Device Manager?

Have you tried all the USB ports one at a time with no other devices plugged in? Do any other USB devices apart from the flash drive work?

Do you have USB 2.0 enabled in BIOS? While you're in the BIOS, check your PSU voltages. What does it say for +5V?

Is the Media Dashboard properly connected to the motherboard and receiving power?

There are dozens of online customer reviews ( link) for the Ultra Media Dashboard that say it gives the 'not enough power' error.

It can only read 1 card at a time
needs specific usb power requirements (needs the usb power be +5v and not +5vsb) else you will get "USB hub power exceeded errors" the worst part is that the mainboard i tested is +5v... and still didn't work

Did not work on my system. Memory sticks and flash cards gave not enough power warning.
More reviews here.
