DVD drives don't work
All of a sudden my DVD drives don't work. They don't show up on Explorer but the device manager says :
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) I've run some driver programs and it says my drivers are fine and up to date. Then why don't the devices run???? ![]() |

Re: DVD drives don't work
Hi,
Follow the advice and instructions on this page....... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/ You'll see Code 39 mentioned just below Error Message 3, but not highlighted like the rest. Use the Guided Help if uncomfortable editing the Registry.

Re: DVD drives don't work
Hi orracle!!
![]() Did you try to delete the upper filter and the lower filter? Try to refer to my detailed instructions on other thread here: Delete Upper Filter/Lower Filter Just make sure you do proper backup (registry back and system restore) before delete the registry, in case something goes wrong ![]()

Re: DVD drives don't work
There is no lower filters and upper filters entry? Are you sure that you open the right entries on the registry?
If yes, then try to uninstall any of the applications you install recently on the computer. Also try to right click the drive on the Device Manager, choose Uninstall then try to restart. See if the drive is working now
