Microsoft Wireless Mouse is Intermittent at Best
I bought the Microsoft Wireless Desktop less than a year ago and now the mouse is slowly fading into an expensive paperweight. The software tells me over and over again that it's low on batteries or the signal strength is low. Neither is actually true.
It seems most of the time that if the mouse is stationary, then I'm unable to click on anything. If I move the mouse, I'm eventually able to get it to click. I've already reinstalled their software a few times. As well as uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. No luck. I thought at first it might have something to do with a Microsoft Wireless laptop mouse nearby, but that was out of the picture for a while and the problem persisted. Although within about 150 feet there is another Microsoft Wireless Desktop attached to another computer. That one seems to be working fine. Maybe he never tries to click anything. In any case, it was through this process that I've learned that Microsoft offers no manufacturer's warranty for their hardware (barring xbox). What a joke. Does anyone know what might be wrong here? Do I really just have a hunk of useless junk on my hands now? |

Re: Microsoft Wireless Mouse is Intermittent at Best
Have you tried this mouse on a different computer to see if you can replicate the problem? That way you can isolate this to either a problem on your computer or a problem with the mouse hardware itself.

Re: Microsoft Wireless Mouse is Intermittent at Best
Well, one of the main reasons I don't believe it to be the computer is because other wireless mouses seem to work find on it. I haven't had tried it with another machine yet because I don't have a dedicated enough computer to use long enough to see if it happens. It'd need to give it some time and attention before being able to determine if it's the computer.
The keyboard has been fine though and today I bought a new non-microsoft mouse which seems to be holding its own flawlessly. |
