Monitor screwing up...

Well, my monitor is acting strange right now. I open a window and there is a highlighted spot with about a diameter of half an inch. It's like the foot-print of a smaller screen. When I fully open the browser you can only see the minimize and half of the maximize icon; you can't see the x. I don't know what's up with my monitor, can anyone help?

try the monitor on another computer to see if its a monitor problem or something else.

I only have one computer, and a lap-top.

connect the monitor up to the vga port on the laptop

Well the lap-top is my sisters, I can probably try this but is there any other solutions other than this?

have you tried ajusting it in the video control panel or in the monitors menu settings
