Changed processors, monitor & keyboard quiet on me
I値l explain this the best way I can. Basically I, on my father the tech mans advice, changed from my processor from celeron, to pentium which I liked because I知 a gamer and anything to make the sims better, well the better. So I switched them, no problems with installation. After changing, putting everything back on track, I go to get it up and running and the computer turned on started up....the monitor doesn稚 read. Its on, with that charming dim light lit at the bottom telling me somethings wrong and I知 not gonna work until you completely lose your mind. On top of that the keyboard is not resonding, I know this because the number lock and caps lock do not light when pressed. I have taken the video card out and put it back in, I dont know what the deal is, the only thing I havent really tried is putting the celeron processor back in, or testing another monitor, don稚 worry I値l be up half the night, having an epic battle with the machine. Any ideas I知 open to suggestions, thank god I have my laptop. Thanks

Re: Changed processors, monitor & keyboard quiet on me
Are you certain that the motherboard can use the new cpu? Did you
insert the cpu correctly? Did you apply thermal compound as per instructions? Did you plug in the 4 pin power connector for the cpu? Did you connect the fan for the hsf? Did you clear cmos, after doing so you will need to go back into cmos and make changes as per your system specs.. alot of questions I know. Perhaps you should post all system specs, including power supply wattage and brand....

Re: Changed processors, monitor & keyboard quiet on me
I had to take out the new processor, because my celeron is running at 2 GHZ/128/400, and the Pentium(s) are (ending in) /533. Thinking that because of this I should just go back to the celeron so I did, no such luck. I think I really screwed things up because now the hard drives are not, well they used to make a sound when they fired up and now they don't, plus the keyboard & Monitor still don't respond. To answer your questions I made sure I changed everything very carefully, I put the solution on each time, made sure the fan was fit in correctly. I don't know what I did to piss it off, but I think I'm gonna have to go take it in to someone. I'm scared about any futher damage I could cause by just changing a freakin processor
. Thanks Anyway, oh and one more thing when it had the pentium processors (I had two pentiums that I tried) my computer sounded like it should, fired up okay (other then the monitor & keyboard thing), plus I could turn it off by holding the off button (it hurt me to do so believe me). When I put the celeron back in, I couldn't even hold the button down to turn it off, I had to painfully unplug it. I would post info about my computer but sadly the only way I could get the info I needed is on my computer...which I can't see to access, or type to figure out, I have a password on my comp too, which makes this even more difficult. This is the weirdest thing, I would get a bit more technical about this except I wouldn't know what I was saying. I hope I can run it again soon, I have Sims to feed! |

Re: Changed processors, monitor & keyboard quiet on me
Unplug machine from wall, take out the battery thats on the mobo.
Wait 30seconds, replace battery, see what happens. The battery is silver about the size of a quarter..

Re: Changed processors, monitor & keyboard quiet on me
I tried the battery thing, no luck, then tried to switch the processors again, I think the motherboard is messed up, or I should just take my harddrives and other exceptable parts and just rebuild a new computer, starting new isn't to bad. I figured out the cmos, and tried resetting it, no luck. What a pain, its times like this that I wish there where time machines, that way I can learn to stick with what I got. Anymore suggestions would be helpful, thank you for the ones so far.
