DVD Writer Icon

Hi im having this weird prob on my system.. i attached two DVD-RW to my PC... sometimes (which is rarely) ... the CD-RW icon cannot be found on my computer and thus i cannot use the the hardware... then i have to restart my PC then i can see it again and use it as usual.. mind u again .. this thing rarely happen but its just annoying that i have to restart my PC just to get it works.. any idea why this happen?

It MIGHT just be a lose connector, if you eliminated that, read ahead.

CD burning software can muck up your Windows system registry, preventing Windows from accessing the CDROM drive. And once in a while, a system file (driver software) may be damaged, leaving the device in limbo. Hope this link helps

did you use an 80 wire ide cable and set the jumpers correctly
master on the end black plug
slave on the middle grey plug

well i think i did... cause it works well ... it even recognize that the upper slot is main DVD and the second is just a secondary... its just this thing randomly occurs.. and its very rarely to happen.. maybe some loose here and there .. ill check again some other time if this occurs... thanx for ur suggestions there dai and correct me if im wrong..
