Monitor won't boot
HI I don't know if this is the right spot to post this thread but if not could someone please point me in the right direction. I went to log into my computer this morning (which stays on all the time) but when I moved the mouse to wake it up it never came on the computer was running so I did a hard reboot once the computer came up the monitor still didn't pop on it the light remained orange. I than disconnected my computer and put on another computer turned it on and the monitor popped on. Could this be my Graphics card had gone bad?

Re: Monitor won't boot
Yes it could be but that does not means that is broken...
Check the cable and try to start PC again... Also open the case and take out your Graphic card. Clean conectors with rubber and also clean PCI-E slot with brush or compressed air... Maybe graphic card is moved a bit from PCI-E... Take back graphic card and try to start a PC... But first, tell me your system specs... Do you have an intergrated graphic card or non-integrated builted inside the case... Hope this help you mate... |

Re: Monitor won't boot
if money is not a problem i would go with the 750 to allow for future upgrades without having to pay out again on the the psu

Re: Monitor won't boot
it's only underpowered psu's that will cause a problem the more power you have the better it will only draw what it requires

Re: Monitor won't boot
always do as much checking as you can before spending so as to isolate the problem first or you end up buying what is not needed

Thanks Dai I got the new graphics card nothing, I got the new power supply 650 nothing, I am now replacing my MOBO I had to take it in finally because I need my computer for homework Best Buy did a free diagnostic and found it to be my MOBO the one guy also told me not to get a new processor because one of the other girls there was telling me that my processor was bad to but the guy said no try the MOBO first because my processor/computer is not that old only a couple of years therefore my processor should still be warrantied and if changing out the MOBO doesn't work I can get my processor replaced for free. however I still needed the upgrade on the power supply and the return policy at Best Buy I was able to return my graphics card if I wanted to but opted to stay with the better graphics card too. So basically I think I am rebuilding my system all over again. But hopefully won't need any upgrades for a while yet. So as of right now I am sitting waiting for my MOBO to come in. thanks for all of your responses to my message it all helped.

Re: Monitor won't boot
yes I did and it looks as if it deleted my whole HD now I am not sure what happened now b/c when it boots up it goes through the whole mobo and things but it won't get past that it just keeps still now on a black screen with a small white blinking cursor and if I recall from my computer building class that isn't a very happy sign :( so I am about ready to take it off line and take it back to best buy tell them to fix it for me I don't know what else to do with it. Any suggestions?

Re: Monitor won't boot
when I did the repair on my windows when it booted back up it still stalled so I did a hard boot and when it came back up I got the chkdsk blue screen saying to strike any key if you don't want to do this tried striking nothing happened so I let it run its course and when it got to step two I noticed it was deleting and moving all sorts of files some I recognized and some I didn't even know what they were and once it did that it finish on check 3 rebooted itself and I got the repair windows alert again so I reinstalled the CD did the repair and now I am at a black screen with a white cursor so I don't know what happened there at all.

Re: Monitor won't boot
I have tried all of that and all I get is a black screen nothing more it loaded and reloaded windows and still nothing. What I did notice is that after I loaded all of the disc from the new mobo it rebooted and when it started back up I got the blue screen with chkdsk needed to be done and it wouldn't let me strike a key to stop it so I let it go through its thing and during step 2 I looked up and it was deleting deleting deleting and deleting all kind of stuff didn't know what half the stuff was but did notice windows being deleted and when I tried recovering it didn't even recognize my hd that was installed as my main drive as a matter of fact it didn't even have that drive on there as a choice to reformat or anything. thank you so much Dai for everything I really enjoy that when I have a question I know someone knowledgeable is out there especially on this forum thank you so much.

do you have the normal xp disk or a restore disk if the normal disk clear the drive with killdisk http://www.google.com/url?q=http://w...tKHMcX57GZrCPQ then try the format and install again check and see if the drive is listed in the bios if it's sata set it to run as ide in the bios
