DVD-Rom Trouble

My DVD player in a Philips. The main program I use is CyberLink Power DVD. Everytime I put a DVD in I get an error message that it needs to shut down. So when I open it with Real Audio, I get no sound. It will play audio CDs OK but will not play sound on a DVD. The picture is OK. All other sounds are also OK, I can play music on my media players and my system sounds work fine. I have tried doing a windows XP System Restore and that made no difference. I have looked in Device Manager to see if there are any problems showing, but everything appears to be fine.

Re: DVD-Rom Trouble

You may have to remove the Upper and Lower Filters in the registry. Here is the path: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}]
"UpperFilters"=-
"LowerFilters"=-
Right click each one and select Delete.
