[SOLVED] No sound from speakers
Hi guys
Recently my speakers packed up, the pc is quite old so i assumed they were broken. Today i bought some more but they do not work either so now i think it is my pc thats is broken somewhere. They are giving no sound at all. I tryed uninstalling the drivers and installing them again but that didnt work, now it wont play any music let alone play the sound. Is a little yellow sign next to the speakers in device manager now and when i press undate drivers it says i have the most upto date ones. I dont really know what im doing so did i break it lol . Any help would be greatly appreciated guys.Melissa xx |

Re: No sound from speakers
in the device manager click on view at the top and in the dropdown
choose show hidden devices go down the list in the device manager and click on any yellow entries and see what it says the problem is are you using onboard or a soundcard

Re: No sound from speakers
Hi
thanks for the advice. I looked at the list and the only yellow thing is for "C-media AC97 Audio Device" and it said "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" I dont really know about the onboard or sound card though how do i find out? Thanks again for your help Melissa |

Re: No sound from speakers
it is the cd that comes with the m/board containing all the chipset drivers
if you don't have it you can find the drivers for download from the m/b makers d/load page for your m/b

Re: No sound from speakers
Ok i got the file from that link, well the second one listed, the top one no longer worked. It has given me a folder containing 4 other folders: AudioDriver2k, AudioDriverXP, BusDriver and Driver but there isnt any files i can do anything with, theyre mostly notepad files and .ddl files. Also in the main folder is a setup application but when i run that it says "device doesnt exist or maybe removed by manually, please plug in device or reboot and try install again". The speakers are connected and i have tryed a reboot. Im stuck. Sorry for being a pain.
