Newbie with monitor problem....

I just installed a LG W1952TQ 19" flat screen on my Sony Vaio PCV RX860 after retiring the original 17" CRT.

The new monitor picture quality is worse than the 6 year old CRT. The words and some graphics appear blurry. I downloaded the LG driver CD per the manufactures instructions OK, but the second program called "forte" on the LG CD caused Windows to shut down. I removed the "forte" program and the computer works fine.

What can I do to get a better image on this monitor?

(I've done a RAM upgrade from 512 to 1.5g.)

Thank you!

Try setting the monitor to 1440 x 900.

Re: Newbie with monitor problem....

simple fix. the monitor is perfectly fine. as the stud muffin said above, me change your resolution! you will need to find the right resolution for your monitor for it to be crisp. right out of the box somtimes they are defaulted to a very low resolution and or not set to the right one.

right click desktop - (popup menu) goto properties - settings - then in the middle of that tab there should be a "screen resolution" slider. mess around with it. and you will find your right size
