Re: Monitor shopping - is this a good one?
Your first link has been deleted, but your second one for the BenQ 19" looks good. It lists 2 repsonse times, 6ms and 2ms. Both are good enough to handle fast onscreen action like in games or videos.
See this article on LCD monitors and what to look for in a good one.

Re: Monitor shopping - is this a good one?
Thank you, but I have bought a new monitor since my post.
I bought a Acer AL2016W. What do you think of it did I make a good choice? It seems to work fine, I am just getting used to a LCD rather than a CRT. I also am trying to get the settings right on it. I do like the large screen a lot!

Re: Monitor shopping - is this a good one?
Good choice. The Acer AL2016W has a response time of 5ms, which is good enough for most people, and a native resolution of 1680x1050. For best results you should run the desktop and any 3D fullscreen games at this resolution.
If 1680x1050 is higher than you're used to and it makes the text too small to read, you can alter the size of text, buttons, toolbars, etc in Control Panel > Display > Appearance tab > Advanced button. You can also the improve the quality of text in Appearance tab > Effects button. Select ClearType from the "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts" dropdown menu.

Re: Monitor shopping - is this a good one?
I did what you said and it is much smaller but the type is clearer I need to figure out how to reset the fonts to make things a little bigger.
I am glad I made a good choice of monitor it can be terribly confusing for someone who knows nothing to choose one and the salesmen all have their own ideas. I don't play games so I knew that I didn't need some mega monitor but I wanted to get a decent one too.

Re: Monitor shopping - is this a good one?
Go to Control Panel > Display > Appearance tab > Advanced button, and select a larger font for each of the items in the Items dropdown menu.
You can also change the font size in the Appearance tab from Normal to Large. A third way to increase system font sizes is Control Panel > Display > Settings tab > Advanced button > General tab > DPI setting. Change from the default Normal (96dpi) to Large (120dpi) or set your own custom size. If you're not a gamer, but will be using the monitor for reading documents, you can reduce eystrain by choosing a soft colour scheme and by lowering the brightness/contrast setting using the monitor's buttons.

Re: Monitor shopping - is this a good one?
Koala,
I have been having problems getting my monitor to work correctly can you help me? These are my questions/problems that I am facing: 1. How can I tell if the correct drivers are installed for this. 2. When I turn on my computer in the morning, the print and size of everything is fine at start-up until one or two seconds later the screen goes black and then the display is changed to wider blurry text. I have been observing it for a little while and I think that it may have something to do with ATI. 3. Sometimes, my screen will seem to flicker and have too much red in the coloring or even green. What is wrong? thank you for any help!
