My PC laptop won't boot with UAD Xpander plugged in! HELP
I came home today happy as God knows what with my new UAD Xpander. I install it and everythings fine untill I plugg the card in and reboot. The computer starts and passes the screen where I can enter the BIOS. But before windows starts it just goes black. The xpander lights in blue as it should but nothing happens. Is there a setting I've missed somewhere??? I'm going nuts trying to figure it out.
Is it a known problem that PC won't boot with PC-Express hardware plugged in? PLEASE HELP ME! SOMEONE, ANYONE..... |

Re: My PC laptop won't boot with UAD Xpander plugged in! HELP
If you haven't already found the answer to your question, this might help. I bought my Xpander at Guitar Center and explained my setup (XP SP2) on a MacBook PRo and they said it was the idea setup for the Xpander. After opening it up and going through what you did I had the same problem. Upon calling Universal Audio, they were kind enough to tell me that for some unexplained and worthless reason, the Xpander will ONLY work with VISTA, NOT XP on a laptop. Who in their right mind uses Vista, and why would they offer no support for it when 90% of every store that carries it says it will work with XP? Whats worse, is Guitar Center wont take it back because of their opened software issue. Since Universal Audio apparently didn't get the memo that Vista sucks and is useless for audio, Im stuck having to sell it now and hope I can get my money back. Let me know how your situation unfolds...
