LG DVD read problem

my LG DVD model GSA H55L can not read standard dvd's properly i.e. there is video &audio but the sounds played intermittently &video sometimes freezes,runs,freezes as if the playing speed is wrong.playing mp3's,cd's,vcd's,dvd 9 is no problem,it occurs only when playing ordinary dvd's no matter if it's a copy or an original...can anybody please help?

Hi

What program are you using to play the DVDs?
VLC is a free (and good) media player: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Close other programs running.

What CPU and how much RAM do you have?
