Dell Inspiron...temp problems.
Inspiron 5150 with XP Home (less than a year old and already had to replce the HDD once). About 2 weeks ago, I disabled the SpeedStep in bios as it was causing frequent overtemp/slowdown with a particular plugin (Shockwave Director). It seemed OK until last night, when my CPU temp shot up to 58, Netscape crashed, and my temps did not come back down (I had to shutdown and leave it all night).
I've re-enabled SpeedStep, and my idle temp is ~10 degrees C higher than it was. Did I permanently screw my system by disabling it for a period? |
