CPU Fan gets really loud?
Yeah so i just upgraded my OS from Xp Home to Xp Pro (With SP2), then i let this computer tech guy that lives near me download the drivers since he had a wireless card & would do it for free. But ever since i got it back, my CPU usage gets high really easy & the fan gets really loud when its like perfectly clean inside of it. I've defragged it & used Registry Mechanic & even dusted it completely out. I dont know if this is a bios issue or a driver that i need or if it was just some weird coincidence that the fan is getting old, but its really starting to annoy me.
(For example: I try & run a game like Counter-Strike or Starcraft & the fan gets really loud, but after i close out of the game, it gets back to a normal silent level) It never used to do this and the only time it ever got loud was when i was booting my pc up & that only lasted for about a minute. So should i just go out & buy a new cpu fan? or try & update my bios or what. Heres some of my system specs: Gateway 509GE Windows Xp Professional 2Gb Ram (4 512Mbs) 200Gb Hard Drive Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00Ghz (2CPU's) BFG Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT OC 512Mb 350W PSU <- (Yeah i know, needs upgraded) Intel D915GAG Motherboard Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Nate |

Re: CPU Fan gets really loud?
Check and make sure you have the exact specs as last time (besides the OS), some tech support people do provide support, but you never know when they will switch your parts for older and cheaper parts.

Re: CPU Fan gets really loud?
Everything still looks the same to me inside of it. Still got the same hard drive & the same fan & Ram and stuff. (That was the first thing i checked when i got it back just to make sure he wasnt ripping me off
). So i dont know what it could be besides the Bios or the fan getting old or a driver.

Re: CPU Fan gets really loud?
usually an indication the cpu is getting to hot
if you continue with that power supply you will be looking for a new computer
