Pioneer DVD RW will not read any disc

Got a little problem here, just bought and installed a Pioneer DVD RW (DVR A)7XLB). Began using it to back up some (one) of my movies. Using DVD Decrypter I copied the DVD to the HD, then started DVD shrink and went off to bed. Got up the next morning to burn the disc, and now the drive will not read any disc. I uninstalled the drivers, restarted windows reinstalled drivers, no change. Device manager reports no problem with the device, although it lists a CD Drive and a DVD RW. I have only the Pioneer connected. The drive shows (D:) in My Computer, but double clicking shows nothing, whether or not there is a disc in the drive or not. Rechecked all connections on the Drive and the jumper is set to master. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try changing the IDE (ribbon) cable with a known good one. That makes a big difference in the way the CPU communicates with the DVD RW.
