Problem with PCMCIA USB2 card

Hi,

I have a laptop with a built-in USB 1.1 port.

Recently i decided to expand the storage, and that a USB 2 external hard drive was the answer - so I needed a USB2 PCMCIA card to give me the speed..

So, i purchased the card, and all the USB devices worked, albeit they are all 1.1.

Whenever i bought the HDD that was a different story though. The device simply will not recognise properly, it registers as USB device in the HDD section of device manager.

Turns out though, that it works 100% when plugged into the built-in USB1.1 port. Registers as a Maxtor hard disk, everything.

Until recently I didn't know where to turn to, until i also purchased a wireless network adapter.. USB2. And it does exactly the same thing - works fine in a 1.1 port, not at all in the new USB2..

Any suggestions?
Thanks
Ryan S

I had the same issue with my older Dell laptop. External drive was seen in onboard USB but not in PCMCIA 2.0 USB Card. Even though the PCMCIA card came with drivers I had to go out and find diffrent 2.0 drivers and install them and the card worked great after that. I believe I still have the drivers. Let me know if you need them and I will email them to you.
