Hey all!
I'm building a (mainly gaming) rig in the spring and was wondering if I could get some advice on cases. I was originally looking at the Thermaltake Xaser III, but after watching a friend with the same case drive himself nuts to get proper cooling I'm a but wary. I was also looking at the Silverstone SST-TJ06, but the cons there for me are cost and weight. Asus P5AD2 mb, Geforce 6600 graphics, so far. I found a site that has the mb with processor, fan, heatsink and memory installed and tested; I'm not too confident on my ability right now to install the processor chip without screwing things up *_* It would probably be living under a desk with little room to move (I hate campus housing). I'm leaning toward lightweight so it'll be somewhat easy to move at the end of the year (as well as move for airflow if I have to). |

I dont really think the case is too important really, I bought a Casecom KG-201 from ebuyer.com in the uk and it cost me about £8 around er $15 i think, its just a basic black case and has 2 blue leds on the front. I have one artic cooling blue led fan on the back and one on the front and with my spec of...
Athlon 64 bit 3000 + Kingston 1GB DDR 400 Asus K8V SE Deluxe GeForce 6800 128mb Maxtor Diamondmax 120Gb 52x/32x/52x/16x cd-dvd combo, I have no problems with airflow or cooling, but my case is on top of my desk with a lot of space around it, but i wouldnt spend a lot of money on a case unless it was for style/looks. My cpu runs around 32/34 celsius idle and it has never reached 50 under full load. but i do live in scotland so the ambient temps arent too high

I have an XBlade case that I purchased recently and I'm happy with that, It has a 120mm fan at the rear and a 80mm side and front fan, I upgraded the PSU before it left the shop to a antec 480w, It is not the lightest case nor the best on the market but i'm happy.
If you do your homework and take your time you shouldn't have any problems installing your system, Just read the manual , twice if you have to and you can always post questions here if you are not sure on anything

I have an Antec P160w case and it is very light-wieght, has 2 120mm fans, and has pleanty of room.
I do not like the case under the desk or on the floor ideal. Especially these desks with little cubby holes for your tower. A very good ideal if you want to burn up your computer. Also bad because of the amount of dust and dirt on the floor. |

I can probably put it on top of the hutch where my printer is now; that would neccesitate moving a bunch of furniture, but it can be done. Printer's old anyway; seems like it could live on the floor with no ill effects.
