Saving files on cd?

Hi,
My computer won't let me save files onto cds.
I can burn music onto it but it wont let me save word documents, pictures, powerpoints, etc on it.

I have a Samsung SSW224 if that helps.

Is there any way to solve this problem and let me save files on CDs?

Thanks in advance, cheers

I believe to do this you first need to create a folder to place your files to be saved, then you can copy that folder into the files to save on cd.

Hi, thanks I tried that but my cd-drive wont even recognize the cd.
It just says "Plase insert cd into cd drive" (or something along those lines).
Then, if u try to save a document directly from Microsoft Word, it says I don't have permission or that I should contact the administrator of the computer.

Any other solutions please?

although many burner makers are claiming that you can use cd's as floppy disks, to store files, this is a bad idea.

since it appends the disk each time you save anything to it, after a couple of times adding stuff to it, after a while it starts taking minutes to read the table of contents.
i would suggest always compiling a complete cd each time, closing the disk when you are done, rather than using UTFS drag and drop.

what i do want to know, is what buring software are you using?

nero? roxio? sony?

well, you don't need a burner program to save files onto CDs do you?

Anywho, I use Roxio Easy Cd Creator to burn music CDs.
I can burn music onto Cds fine with no problem, just when I try to save a file (Word Document type) onto a CD, the CD drive wont even recognize the blank CD and says that the drive is empty.

well, you might be using xp's native utfs tool. then, no, you don't. unless your burner isn't able to work well with that.

i'm not sure what exactly you are trying to do, you could just fire roxio up and burn a data cd...

although roxio is said to have problems with xp, i'm not sure if they fixed that after version 6.

you might try Nero.

It's important that we learn from our mistakes here, for when we learn we progress. Never feel stupid just for lack of experience, and it's often too easy to overlook the obvious. We've all been there before.
