dvd rom

hmm ... my computer doesnt seem to play dvd cd's ... for example ... i got a dvd from blockbuster .. and i tried playing it on my computer .. (divx . windows media player . VLC media player ) and yet none of them work ... and it says tat my computer doesnt have a dvd decoder .. im not exactly shure .. but im using a old dvd rom .. and i was wonder if tat was the dvd rom .. or if its just the program .. i dled WinDVD 6 awhile ago ... would tat have a better affect?

divx

Download and install divx from divx.com. It's free. Then try play your DVD.

but if its a retail dvd from blockbuster like he said then you shouldnt need divx to be able to play it. have you tried playing it in power dvd or windvd or have you checked its setup for the right region ?
