linksys WPC55AG problem
I am using a Linksys WPC55AG v 1.1 wireless card on a Sony Vaio (PCG-FXA63) laptop. I use it at home with my Linksys BEFW11S4 wireless router, and everything is fine just about all the time. The trouble is when I try using it on other wireless networks.
Lately, I've been accessing other networks, usually at coffee shops, and even when the signal is good, the connection will drop every 5 to 10 minutes. I can get it back if I repair the connection (release/renew the IP address), but then after another few minutes, the same thing will happen. When I go home and use my router, there is no problem again. At one coffee shop, this will happen with the wireless even though I can plug into a regular ethernet connection with no problems. The only difference I can imagine there might be between my home network and those at other places is that my home router is programmed to recognize only my MAC address, and I have security enabled with a WEP. I have installed all of the latest drivers. Does anyone know what might be causing this? |
