V-Gear DV ProTV

V-Gear capture card , The first one did not work at all. They sent me a new one. But they did not offer any support. So I read the instructions and installed the software and then installed the card , as per instructions. Then hooked up my cable to the card " cable tv " . Turned every thing back on and the picture looks like crap. I reset set the display settings the picture looks Great but its about the size of a business card. I can watch with a full screen but it looks bad. And theres no sound. I have the surround sound speakers 3 of them. I unpluged them and pluged the plug into the capture card audio plug. And now I have sound. I hit record and the sound disappears. So I recorded for a few moments ,about the length of a commerical. When I tried to watch what I had just recorded it looked good but no sound. So I unpluged the audio plug and put it back into the , I think it is the on board audio plug ? , still no sound.
I have a home grown comp. it has a Gigabyte mother board I think the guy who built it said it was suppose to be around a 1900 , ? Anyway theres 1 Gig of memory and 60 gig hard drive. And I am using windows XP home.
I can watch DVDs and down load stuff off the net and it works great ! I just can not get this to work. Any Ideas ?
