help please
hi techies! I wanst too sure where to put this post but any way i am new so hi everyone!
I am after a bit of help please, I am trying to understand why a wrist strap is a protective devicE? Is it because dust cannot cling to the equipment? Pls help, my mind boggles!

it's actually pretty simple.
if you ground yourself to the case on the computer while you are using/working on it, you won't have the possibility of an ESD (electro-Static Discharge) killing the machine.

hi vic and welcome to TSF. This forum is just fine for your question.
 The wrist strap protects against ESD (electro-static discharge). "Carpet shocks", as most think of them, are deadly to a PC in general. This strap keeps you grounded, so you will not unintentionally damage any of the electrical components.
