Hey
I have a problem with installing RAM into a dell optiples GX150 system. The system (as far as i know) is like this: MEMORY Architecture: 133Mhz SDRAM Dual In-Line Memory Module (DIMM) Sockets: Two Non-Error Checking and Correction (non-ECC) DIMM Capacities: 64-, 128-, and 256MB SDRAM System Random-Access Memory (RAM): 64 to 512MB BIOS Address: F0000h I want to install 500MB of memory using two 250MB chips. I system came with one 256MB PC100 100MHZ SDRAM DIMM and worked fine. However after trying to add a second 256MB 133MHZ SDRAM DIMM chip (kinkston), that i pulled from a working system i found the system will not boot. I have also tryed using a 256MB PC100 100MHZ SDRAM DIMM chip (works fine in other system). This also did not boot. The system will however boot fine with a 64MB PC100 100MHZ SDRAM DIMM in the second socket. I have tryed using the chips in all diferent compination. The system fails to boot with both the 250MB chips however they are placed(alone or together). Any Ideas ? |

Dell computers will only recognize certain memory types. The types that your Dell will work with are listed on the Dell website according to your service tag number. The site has instructions for finding your service tag number on your machine, or you can also find the number on the Bios page. You may also find a Bios flash for your Dell that may improve some of it's limitations.
