Twisted 3.8 Extreme Edition??

In the Fall 2004 issue of Maximum px they mention a Falcon Mach V Icon Exotix that has a 3.8 Extreme Edition overclocked to 4.28. I think this is a bunch of BS!!!!!!!!!!!! Where the hell do you get a 3.8 Extreme Edition from???????!?!!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Someone has some extreme explaining to do.

I am as curious as you are. Unless Maximum PC misprinted...I was not aware of an Intel 3.8Ghz Extreme Edition, they may have meant a 3.8E(Prescott).

It was also mentioned recently that the Intel Pentium 4 3.8E would be the limit from Intel for a while. They have cancelled their plans to step up to 4Ghz.

I'll keep you posted.

I heard the same. I thought maybe they did misprint but let me quote "Falcon started with a 3.8GHz P4 for this monster rig. You never heard of a 3.8 GHZ P4? Neither had we until Falcon's PC arrived" and then in the specs of all the three mention they entered Falcon Northwest as having a "3.8 GHz Pentium 4E". What a load of cra*. I wonder how much it would cost for one if it really does exist. I tried contacting them but I bet they are just working on a mouthy reply, like mine.

I am almost embarrassed to say but they did mean a 3.8 E prescott not an Extreme Edition.

Fear not. With all of the recent changes in nomenclature it is hard to keep track. The Intel Prescotts are now know by a 3 digit number, ie. 540, 550, 560...While the speed rating is 3.2E, the E is the prescott identifier.

I still believe that the Intel 3.4EE or Extreme Edition would outperform the overclocked 3.8E in most situations thanks to it's 2MB of cache.
