Please Help!!!
Need some help guys.
I have recently installed a new AMD Athlon 3200+ XP on a A7n8x-E Deluxe MB I have two new Maxtor Drives one 80Gig and one 200Gig as well as a brand new Enermax 530W PSU. Everything has been working fine until this morning I went to start the computer it will get all the way through POST and then all I would get is a black screen. It starts up, beeps once like it's supposed to, BIOS loads fine I get to the Windows XP Loading screen and then nothing. After pressing the restart button it brought me to the screen that asks how you want to boot: Safe Mode Safe Mode with Networking Safe Mode with Command Prompt Last known config Start Normally I tried the last one (str norm) a couple of times with nothing, tried the last known config and instead of a black screen it just got right past the Windows XP Loading screen and then rebooted itself just to repeat this process. The only option that worked was Safe Mode. I actually got into windows, but I am not sure what to look for or tweak to troubleshoot the problem, so I thought if I restarted in Safe Mode it would work. When I tried that I still have the same problem. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Does anyone think this is a virus or worm? It has been working fine for the last few weeks after I replaced the PSU. Is there a program or utility that I can run in safe mode that will help? Any suggestions would be GREATFUL! I wish it were that simple. The video card hasn't changed, and I haven't messed with it. When I first got the MB I installed the card with the latest drivers.
As a matter of fact since the PSU I haven't changed or messed with a thing. It just booted to a blank screen today with no warning. Flyboyd |
