MS Laser Desktop 6000 v2

Hi. I just got my second MS Laser Desktop 6000 delivered today (v2 keyboard, laser 600 mouse, not v2). The first, broke down about a week ago after 6 months, the right mouse click stopped working. I now have brand new replacement but I still have one minor problem with the keyboard which I though having a new replacement might have sorted out? The gadget button still refuses to open whatever it is supposed to open? I would presume that it opens the windows with all the gadgets I have (not many), as in when you hit the little + above the sidebar in Vista Ultimate? But no, nowt happens? It just highlights the small white + with small dashes and thats it - nothing? Everthing else works perfectly. All known latest software for KB and mouse downloaded and installed from MS site this morning. Has anyone else had this problem and is there possibly a fix for it please? Thank you.
