Mistake Microsoft Lifecam VX-3000

I install the software and also downloaded software needed from Microsoft for this product. When it promps me to plug in webcame, the computer doesn't detect it. It goes directly to wizard which promps me to insert the service pack 2 cd to look for the kstvtune.ax fileor usbaudio.sys file etc. My service pack 2 was updated and I don't own no sp2 cd. I have unistall and reinstall the software many time but I get the same result. When I look into the device section there is a yellow exclamation and it says usb camera not lifecam vx 3000. I tried to check for driver updates on the usb and webcam and no luck. My OS is :

Microsoft XP Professional version 2002
service pack2
Intel Pentium lll Processor 999 Mhz 512MB of RAM

I figured I buy a Microsoft webcam so I won't have any problems installing since I my OS is Win XP prof and this product has given me so much stress and the support Microsft gives over the net is sad. Can someone please help me before I take this product and throw it out the window.
Thanks .

Re: Microsoft Lifecam VX-3000

I just hooked up my new VX-3000, and the microphone does not work. When I spoke into the (built in) mic from a few inches away, all that I got was my voice in super reverb (echoing and major feedback), but the mic doesn't pick up anything if I move more than a few inches away from it.

I don't know if this is a mic failure, or some sort of connectivity problem, as I'm using a very inexpensive 4 into 1 USB hub (do USB connections wear out, and would it affect the audio signal only?)
