Mouse problem

This just started today, but my mouse is spurratically getting sluggish about moving on the Y-axis, and occasionally will REFUSE to move vertically at all.

Sometimes I can get around the problem by moving the cursor in circles, but then it will again freeze and only move horizontally.

It's a generic ball mouse.

Do I need to clean the ball? If so, need tips.

Or is it something else?

Re: Mouse problem

Hi

Yes, you need to clean the mouse.
Take the ball out - then remove dust and dirt from the three "wheels" with a cloth.

But, I would get an optical mouse.

I took the ball out, and there as a line of dust on each "wheel." I had to scrape it off, and now the mouse will NOT move on the vertical axis. The only way to move the mouse upward on the screen is via a diagonal movement.

Re: Mouse problem

One of the wheels/sensors has stopped working.
The best would be to get a new mouse.
