Mouse Freezing

Hi

Ok i keep getting about every 5-30 seconds my mouse freezing. It then unfreezes and my mouse cursor has moved to where i continued to move to.

Spec of my PC
2 GiG Ram
4ghz athlon 64
512mb gefore 8600gts
160gb sata hdrive

Things ive tried:

1. Tried a different USB port.
2. Bought a new mouse.
3. Reinstalled and updated all drivers on PC
4. Checked Task manager to see if my processcor and ram are running at 100% - they arent running at 5-10 %.
5. Disabled all programs on startup.
6. Checked to see if anything is overheating including graphics card - they arent.
7. Run full virus scan with avg and adware removal software and deep search on hard drive. No errors or infections.
8. Banged my head on keyboard several times

Im really not sure what else to try. Im pretty sure its either my harddrive or my gfix card but do not have spares to test this. I even ran regcure. Please help as i dont want to run a rebuild as a last resort!

Re: Mouse Freezing

it is really weird it was working fine for months and now it suddenly starts playing up. It is also progressively getting worse. Do you think it is worth doing a windows repair with my xp disc?

Re: Mouse Freezing

Well i just bought a new PC. Only part i didnt replace was the graphics card. And the problem is still occuring! How annoying. Its less than 6 months old. How can the graphics card radomnly turn off various USB mice???

Also regcure isnt a virus its a purchasable product that removes unused registry keys and allows you to turn off different programs at windows boot.

Re: Mouse Freezing

longshot -- go into your bios and see if its giving the correct date and time, if not, replace the bios battery. If the battery has to replace, it might fix the mouse problem.

Re: Mouse Freezing

also

is the device manager clean? no yellow flags? click view and show hidden devices in the manager.
what mouse is listed?

what mouse is this?
are you using a mouse pad with an optical mouse?

[my mouse pad is in the garbage, i believe static occurred and caused my symptoms]
