Monitor Problem

Hello ppl, its been a year since i bought my SyncMaster 940N and i have been experiencing a problem from the right beginning. Here it is: Since my computer is a bit old, i cant afford to play games on high resolutions, so with my old screen i used to put 800*600 and it was fine (kinda shitty gfx but ok wtvr). Now with my new screen i cant do that since an error message comes to the screen saying "not optimum mode, Recommended: 1024* 768" I can make that message go away but the screen wont be showing very well in terms of positioning the game on the screen. what i mean is that some parts of the screen (in game) are lost, for example the bottom corners. Anyway thats the problem, so if you have any tips pls reply back =/
(btw i didn't post earlier because i quit gaming after buying the new screen coz i was too busy with work, so now i just started playing PES for fun and thats why i gave it a shot)
---i think i posted in the wrong section, wanted to post on hardware, if its a wrong section pls move it.
