EEK! [SOLVED] CD/DVD Playing Problem

Hi,
I just started having problems playing movies on my pc. I have a Lite-On CD-RW/DVD Combo drive and a Plextor PX-740A/SW Internal drive. When trying to play a movie it will constantly skip on both drives. It will play audio cds without skipping and I bought a CD/DVD Cleaner and it played without skipping. I think the problem started after I ripped music cds. I was wondering maybe drivers got corrupted somehow, and would need to be reinstalled. Or could it be something else that they both use that would make them behave this way. I am so confused and could use assistance.

Re: CD/DVD Playing Problem

How are the drives set up as master and slave? Are they on separate IDE channels? Are you using 40 or 80 wire IDE cables?

Re: CD/DVD Playing Problem

koala, I have had this set up for about 2 years and they have worked great until lately. I do not think it has nothing to do you channels or cables. Thanks for your input maybe you can think of something else.

Mon, I thought it might be codecs, but my laptop plays them without the codecs install on it, so I thought maybe that wasn't the problem.

I am soooooo confused.

Re: CD/DVD Playing Problem

Just to update, for incase someone else has the same problem. In my particular case I found a yellow question mark next to the Video Controller in the Device Manager. After reinstalling the driver it worked perfect. I don’t have a clue as to what the Video Controller has to do with the CD/DVD Drives skipping, but it stopped the skipping and works great now.
