What makes a good LCD Monitor?

Hello i am curious to know what makes up a good LCD monitor. I am not sure if contrast ratio (800:1, 1000:1) really makes that much of a difference. Also im not sure what other specs would make up a "good" monitor. Thanks!

Re: What makes a good LCD Monitor?

Im thinking of getting for about $200:
Display Size: 20 inches
Display: Flat panel display
Display Technology: LCD
Display Resolution Maximum: 1600 x 1200
Image Brightness: 250 cd/m2
Image Contrast Ratio: 800:1
Hardware Platform: PC
Response Time: 20 milliseconds
Video Input Digital Standard: Digital Visual Interface (DVI)
Audio Output Type: None

Is that a good deal?

Re: What makes a good LCD Monitor?

If you play any games or work with video, you need a response time of 8ms or less.

Re: What makes a good LCD Monitor?

I recently bought an Acer AL2216LBW. It's 22" with a 16:10 widescreen aspect. 1680x1050 resolution, 5ms response time, 170 degree viewing range. The only thing I don't really like is that the panel has 6-bit color circuitry which means each 3-color element is capable of only 262k colors. It cleverly interpoolates for 16.7m colors, but a sharp eye can tell it's faked!

Re: What makes a good LCD Monitor?

Ok well i just purchased a Viewsonic vx1932wm and specs are

19” widescreen TFT LCD
16:10 wide aspect ratio
ClearMotiv 2ms video response
1440 x 900 native resolution (Anti-glare)
300-nit high brightness
700:1 high contrast ratio (2000:1 dynamic contrast ratio)
160° (H) / 160° (V) viewing angle
ENERGY and Energy Star qualified

And for some reason when i play BF2 there is some drag, well color drag. The picture gets a little blurry when i turn quickly and objects get a weird greenish glow. I was wondering what exactly is this and also if there is anyway to fix this problem. Thanks!
