Replacing backlight in monitor

Recently my LCD display went black. After searching this forum I determined it's the backlight (My other monitor, a CRT works, and I can see my desktop on the LCD by holding a light up to it).

I disassembled the LCD in order to get a measurement of the CCFL before ordering one and noticed there are two of them. This raised a few questions so I didn't go any further.

- could it be the inverter and not the backlight(s)?
- is it possible both CCFL's went out?
- how could I determine which lamp needs replacing if the above two are false?

It's a cheap display that I don't see a name on but it served well as a second monitor.
The back of the panel (actual screen) is marked "Samsung LTM150X14-T01" if that helps.

Thank you. -Bob

Re: Replacing backlight in monitor

I would think it's the inverter instead of the two backlights if they both seemed to go out at the same time, but I'm no expert in this area. You might want to consider bringing the components or entire monitor to a local computer shop to have the parts tested before you buy something? If that's not an option, you should be able to find the backlights for about 10-15 dollars, so you could try buying two of those just to see if that's the problem.

I'm not familiar with that Samsung panel, but from what I've read, Samsung makes some pretty good panels, so if you've been happy with that display, then it might be worth trying to fix it.
