An orange-ringed port on my PC

Yeah in my PC there is this port with an orange ring round it. I would like to know what this port does please. Here's my related YouTube video (it has all the information you should need - just reply to this topic if you need more information): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOQjZaSozJU

So just tell me what this port does. I assume it's an output port because the arrow in the symbol points outwards, but even that may be wrong =)

Cheers guys.

Really well I've got another speaker socket that is green. I guess this is just a general audio out port.

In that case it must be headphones. I was going by the symbol. If you look at the speaker socket you should find that it has the same symbol with the outward pointing arrow. Don't you have a manual? BTW, what model is yours? I couldn't make out from the video clip.

Re: An orange-ringed port on my PC

I have the same case with the same port on the front. I just took my headphones through to the other room but the Plug wouldnt fit in, It was too big. So i dont think its an audio jack.

The arrow points the other way on the mic socket.

Yes, I have a manual. This port is not in my manual.

Also, my speaker port does not have the same symbol. Where this port's symbol has straight lines my speaker has curved lines: (((>))) instead of |||>|||

Re: An orange-ringed port on my PC

SPDIF has two forms of connection, optical and coaxial. Have a look at this article for a full description.

Re: An orange-ringed port on my PC

Hey I'm in luck I just bought what I think is a coaxial cable (I don't know much about them). Is it supposed to be shaped just like an A/V cable but it's black?

Don't know about the colour, but it's the same as a televison aerial cable.
