About external CD/DVD drives
Months ago I bought an external CD/DVD drive for my Gateway Profile computer. The one I bought is the Mad Dog Triple Format external drive. I bought it because my internal drive, after 5 years of use, decided to die. And I depend on this drive to create music CDs for my exercise classes. What I did not know is that all external drives are not compatible with iTunes, which is where my entire music library is located. So, I read the instructions, install the new drive, and decide to play a CD in it. NOTHING. When you put a music CD into a drive that is not compatible with iTunes, apparently the drive recognizes that you're trying to get it to read your CD, but instead of playing the music, after you click on the first song, it simply indicates each of the songs very quickly by using the tiny speaker icon next to each song on the CD, then does nothing. Of course, normally when you click on a CD song in iTunes, the speaker icon indicates that it knows you want to play that song, then it plays it by staying by that song until the song is over. (I hope I'm being clear.) Anyway, all this might not be that important after all. Because my question is, does anyone know of an external CD/DVD drive that IS compatible with iTunes? Nothing on the packaging or in the instructions of the Mad Dog drive told me that this was not compatible with iTunes. However, I stupidly threw out all the packaging before I knew I'd made a mistake. Now I can not get a salesperson to commit to whether or not the drive he's selling is compatible! And I may've found one while surfing the net tonight, but I wanted to check in here first.
