Something wrong with CD-ROM

I have a newer CD-ROM drive and I have never had a problem with it until recently and for some reason it won't open. When I hit eject the light flashes and it clicks as if it is trying to open but then it doen't and it begins reading the CD. I have tried the manual eject but it that works temporarily but it can't even close on its own.

Did you try open and close when you first turn the computer on? When you first turn the computer on, press the pause button so the computer stops at the bios screen. Try the open/close button.

If it works ???

If it doesn't, then the drive door may have dust in the track, or is misaligned (usually gets pulled open, bumped by a knee when open, or coffee mug was too heavy last time it was used )

A new cd-rom or even burner or dvd burner is fairly inexpensive.
